SETTING
Set within the confines of Alex's own bedroom, you'll have the freedom to roam and interact with various objects, including a PC that grants access to 'Purrfect Planter.' Within this captivating farming game, inspired by 'Gacha games,' you'll embody a playful cat, tasked with planting, watering, and harvesting crops while battling pesky weeds. The money earned can be spent to expand the farm or to try your luck at the Gacha machine, which offers exciting, randomized prizes.
But there's a twist. As Alex dives deeper into this virtual escape, time begins to warp, and you'll sense Alex losing touch with reality. Text messages from concerned friends and family appear, ignored by Alex in favor of the game. As gameplay unfolds, you'll witness Alex's life spiral out of control—friends drift away, relationships crumble, and jobs and homes are lost. In parallel, Alex's bedroom becomes a haunting reflection of their deteriorating mental state, overrun by suffocating vines.
INTENTION
'I Am Rooting for You' delivers a powerful message about the dark consequences of video game addiction and mental illness. It prompts players to pause and ponder their own relationship with gaming and its potential impact on their mental health and relationships. Will you help Alex find a way back from the brink, or will you be drawn into the seductive world of 'Purrfect Planter' as well? The choice is yours in this thought-provoking journey through addiction, consequences, and redemption.

I'm thrilled to share that our dedicated production team achieved outstanding recognition for this project. We participated in the 2023 Global Game Jam, where we faced the intense challenge of creating a 'Root'-themed game within a mere 48-hour time frame. Despite the tight schedule and numerous production hurdles, I'm proud to announce that our team's dedication and creativity shone through, and we were honored with the first prize for the greatest game produced during the event at ArtFx.

The production team behind 'I am rooting for you" is called 'Rapidly Declining Mental Funcion' or 'RDMF' for short.
We are a group of three programmers, four 2D artists, two 3D artists, and myself who took on the role of producer, Game Designer and prop artist.
